IRTA (International Reciprocal Trade Association) Bartercard is a founding member of the International Reciprocal Trade Association (Australasia) IRTA(A), whose main role is the governance of the industry’s common code of ethics and peer review self-regulatory system. 

The IRTA is a non-profit organisation of companies committed to promoting just and equitable standards of reciprocal trade (barter). The key focus of the organisation is to raise the value of reciprocal trade to businesses and communities worldwide by educating, self-regulating and leading by example. The IRTA services the international and Australian barter industry by:

Bartercard founders Wayne Sharpe and Andrew Federowsky have been inducted into the IRTA Hall of Fame. This is one of the global trade economy’s most exclusive clubs and the highest honour bestowed by IRTA. This honour of induction officially recognises individuals who are regarded as indisputable leaders in the barter industry.

According to IRTA Executive Director Krista Vardabash, the term ‘indisputable leader’ is defined as a person who has made universally recognised and specific contributions to the barter industry over a 10-year period or longer. Above all, inductees must be regarded in the industry as highly professional and ethical. Through its membership of IRTA(A), Bartercard continues its leadership role, operating under industry standards, thus providing the benchmark of the Association and the industry as a whole.
